Partners for a Healthy Baby is a nationally recognized, research-based curriculum used by many home visiting models to improve birth outcomes, reduce rates of child abuse, increase intervals between pregnancies, strengthen families, enhance child health and developmental outcomes, and support family stability and economic self-sufficiency. The Partners curriculum was developed by a highly experienced multi-disciplinary faculty team at Florida State University and designed to support a systematic approach to planning and conducting effective home visits.

The FSU Partners curriculum is unique in that it addresses issues of child health and development within the context of the multifaceted needs of expectant and parenting families. The evidence-informed content in each book supports the home visitor's ability to systematically plan home visits and address key topics that are essential in achieving both family and program outcomes.

Each book in the four-volume curriculum series - Before Baby Arrives, Baby's 1st Year, Baby's 2nd Year, and Toddler's 3rd Year - has a User's Guide, a Scope and Sequence, and an accompanying set of full-color handouts for the home visitor to use when planning their visits. These Parent Handouts, which can be purchased separately in English or Spanish, summarize critical information and help the home visitor introduce subjects that may otherwise be difficult to talk about with families.

Promoting Maternal Mental Health During Pregnancy assists pregnant women in moving beyond the physical dimensions of pregnancy to the emotional and psychological challenges they face.

Program materials cover theory, practice and interventions with reproducible handouts to use with the pregnant woman.

Research has shown that a mother’s mental health and emotional state during pregnancy has an immediate and direct impact on her lifelong relationship with her infant.

In turn, the health of the mother-child relationship directly impacts the child’s quality of life, possibly throughout the lifespan.

By helping the pregnant woman improve her mental and emotional state during pregnancy, we are able to increase the chances that she and her child will experience a healthier relationship.
