Our Mission
 

The Mission of Ravalli Head Start, Inc. is to identify and meet specific needs of low-income and other eligible children and families in a manner consistent with Federal Head Start regulations and best practices. As a result of these efforts and services, children and their families will enter the future as more productive, confident, self-reliant and successful members of society.

What we do
 

Ravalli Head Start is a federally funded program provided at NO COST to low income families living in Ravalli County.  The comprehensive pre-school program serves 3 and 4 year old and provides 4 hour classes, four days a week - mid September through May - at the Hamilton Center and in Stevensville.  Limited bus service may be available.

Head Start is designed to develop the special strengths and meet the needs of each child and his/her family.

RHS provides:

  • Nutritious breakfasts and lunches.
  • Child health, nutrition and dental education.
  • Disability, wellness and mental health services.
  • Parenting classes and early literacy support.
  • Links to community resources.
  • Family goal-setting and support.

     
 
    Our Board & Policy Council

Board of Directors

Ravalli Head Start, Inc. is a private non-profit community action agency. The nine Board members are volunteers from the community who represent both Missoula and Ravalli Counties. Two of these members are parent representatives.

The Board of Directors sets policy for the Head Start Program. The Board of Directors is given advice from the Policy Council and sets forth policies  to operate the Head Start and Early Head Start Programs.

Policy Council

Ravalli Head Start, Inc. Policy Council consists of 17 voting members. Eleven of these members are parent representatives elected by parents in Ravalli Head Start, Inc. Parents are elected to represent each program option and location. Two of the members are community representatives from Missoula County and four are community representatives from Ravalli County. The Policy Council approves plans, goals, and policies for the Missoula and Ravalli Early Head Starts and Ravalli Head Start programs. The Policy Council must also conduct an annual evaluation of all three programs. Policy Council Member elections are held in October each year.
